The bark house

Nestled in the forest, the Maison de l’écorce takes root between two black volumes resembling Nordic cabins, linked by a glazed walkway. Its layout takes advantage of the natural slope of the land to create a direct relationship with the woodland, whatever the level. Dark vertical clapboard contrasts with light wood inserts, evoking the bark and soft heart it protects.

Inside, the house offers a calm, hushed atmosphere bathed in light. Natural wood is omnipresent – in cupboards, built-in furniture, ceilings and screens – adding warmth and texture. Each floor reveals a unique universe, just like the people who live there. It’s an intimate, enveloping place, where design is discreet, the better to let nature in.
